pretty_cynical: (OFFICE. here comes the sun.)
It's been a weird couple of days for me - the fluctuation between colder and warmer weather the past few weeks has left me with a cold that seems to be growing into something much more than a common cold, and my sleeping habits have changed: I go to bed around 11-ish (my usual bedtime) and wake up around 5AM or 6AM feeling totally fine, but then I end up taking a 3 or 4 hour nap later in the day. I really do not need this right now. The weather is nice, I should be feeling good about it! And I'm done with school in a little over a week, I should be pumping myself for the fact that I will never have to go back to that horrible college again instead of worrying that I've got some massive respiratory infection (and the fact that I have received no indication that the large Amazon order I made to celebrate me being done with said college has shipped just adds to these worries.)

Oh, and I got a blister on the heel of my right foot from taking a walk around the neighborhood in my trusty ballet flats. Not only is it painful because it's a blister, but it has the added pain of being on my heel, where I (sadly) put most of my weight when I stand or walk. So I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon hobbling around on my left foot until I could find some relief - in the form of a makeshift band-aid of medical tape and a strip of Second Skin. I've got it hardcore taped up now, making it looks as if something worse than a blister appeared on my foot and is causing me pain. I can walk and stand on it and it feels totally fine, but I'll keep it taped up for a few more days just in case. I got chided by both Mommy and Dad for being stupid enough to take a walk in ballet flats, and have now realized that I shouldn't wear them when I go out for a walk.

The only part of this week's ep of The Office that I liked was Pam's reaction to Andy playing a tape of Here Comes Treble singing Pachelbel's Canon/You Can Call Me Al: "Wait a minute, am I walking down the aisle to 'You Can Call Me Al'?" FINALLY, SOME HINT THAT THEY'RE ACTUALLY GETTING MARRIED SOON. Other than that, I wasn't really feeling it. And I'm not really pumped about the last episodes for the season either. I watched some of season 4 yesterday ("Money", "Chair Model" and "Job Fair") and got really nostalgic. That was a pretty good season, despite the fact that the writer's strike cruelly cut it short. It was funny and engaging and sweet; I wouldn't even think about using those adjectives to describe this season, even though I predicted during the season premiere that season 5 was going to be the BEST SEASON EVER for the show (and I feel incredibly guilty about it.) I just feel that the show hasn't been what it used to be - the last time it was was "Stress Relief" and even then it had to be funny, because it was given the post-Superbowl timeslot and attracted viewers. And I think another part of it is the fact that Greg Daniels and Mike Schur are too focused on making Parks & Recreation live up to all of NBC's hype that The Office has faltered as a result (and by proxy, so has Parks & Recreation, because Greg&Mike are making it too similar to The Office.) So to reiterate a point I orginially made here, I WANT GREG&MIKE BACK WORKING ON THE OFFICE.

But there was some spoiler speculation that sort-of cheered me up. )

Eleven days left of school (actually eight; I only have classes Monday-Thursday and don't count weekends) and I have very little homework this weekend, which is wonderful - just research for my final paper (done yesterday) and an article summary (will be done tomorrow on my break), both for English. I have a Film quiz tomorrow as well, but I'm printing out the notes I need and if I just look them over beforehand, I should be fine. I do need to need to find a job for the summer, which is proving a little difficult - I went to the College's job office on Thursday and looked, but wasn't yielded anything promising. So I think I'm just going to apply everywhere I want to work and see what happens. I need something to do with my time once I'm done with school, and I really could use the money as well :)
pretty_cynical: (HOUSE. all smiles.)
Some awesome things have happened as of late:
  1. I know I mentioned this yesterday, but you could all benefit from seeing new First Dog Bo Obama. He's absolutely adorable! And the Obama family is going to officially introduce him to the country (as well as the rest of the world, I guess) tomorrow in a press confrence, which caused me to muse aloud how he would communicate with the public. Would he have his own webcam, a la Barney? A fan club, like with Socks the cat? Or will he write a book, like Bush 41's dog Millie? (A fact which always makes me laugh, as a) she is the namesake of my beloved babydoll, so it always comes up when I talk about my doll; and b) IT'S A DOG WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE A PUBLISHED AUTHOR. THINK ABOUT IT.) Either way, I am very, very excited about Bo's official introduction.

  2. EASTER! Easter was good. Went to Mass 8:30 Sunday morning, as Monica had to altar serve. Would've loved to attend the Easter Vigil the night before, as I have always wanted to ever since I learned what takes place in one during my junior year religion class in high school, but couldn't because it usually goes late, and then I'd have a hard time getting up the next morning for actual Easter Mass. Although this year was reportatedly shorter than usual because they weren't bringing anyone new into the church, just recognizing those who converted in past years. But the Mass was good.

Dinner was nice as well; my aunt&uncle invited their neighbors over to have dinner with us, which was a lot of fun. They have two teenage girls (both fit right in between Monica and I, age-wise), so we did all kinds of weird activities with my younger cousins - playing Blurt! while eating all the appetizers (with me teaching them how to "blow for luck" with the dice), participating in a game similar to the "name game" we played in Drama class, except with aliases and corresponding hand-motions (I was "Dork" "Chop Choppin' The Ice" and "Pregnant"), and a mock-Olympics, where everyone else jumped on the trampoline and I played judge, giving out pretend scores and fake medals. I ate the most delicious lamb with the adults, and found out the neighbors also attend our Camp (although during a different week), so we traded various Camp stories. Although I was disappointed that I didn't get to see my cousin Luke; he's in college down at Dallas and couldn't get home for the weekend. I sent him a message saying we all missed him there, and he echoed the sentiment, which was sweet.

  3. House! )

  4. I spent some time switching up my schedule for Grand Valley; I'm now taking more classes towards my major, although they're one day a week for three hours in the evening, which makes me a little nervous. But now I'm actually taking classes that will count towards my major, instead of classes that fulfill my Political Science minor, take up credits, and fill holes in my school schedule. And it frees up more time for me to have an on campus job (free Wednesday and Friday afternoons in the Fall, all day Friday in the Winter) and have enough credit hours to make Dad happy. Now it's making me more anxious to go there already.
pretty_cynical: (SPORTSNIGHT. surprising & unexpected.)

Or I would be, if I didn't have to give up virtually all carbs for eight days - my diet, sadly, is largely built around them. I'd rather give up having to eat meat every Friday than part with leavened bread. Plus, Easter candy! But I watched the Passover episode of Sports Night ("April Is The Cruelest Month"), found out that Aaron Sorkin might be returning to television soon, and the analogy of Sports Night/The West Wing was the first thought in my mind when I watched Parks&Recreation and The Office. )
pretty_cynical: (THIRTYROCK. what the what.)
School continues to frustrate me - I have a topic proposal for English due on Monday, despite the fact that I just turned in the final copy of my second paper on Wednesday and I have only a vague idea of what I want to do this paper on; I took a quiz in English when I was given no indication of the professor giving any type of quiz (or any other type of work beyond writing research papers, WHICH IS WHAT THE CLASS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT); and I'm pretty sure that I failed my Human Relations test, because I thought it was next week instead of yesterday.

However, I've aced my last two American History tests without taking a single note, making me believe I might have an A in the class; and I can register for Grand Valley classes in a little over a week. I'M SO CLOSE TO BEING FREE, YOU GUYS.

Another busy weekend; Monica's Confirmation is on Saturday, and my aunt&uncle&fivecousins (her godparents) from Omaha are coming into town, and we've got several get-togethers planned. I don't have school today, so I'm going to the mall in Ann Arbor with Grandma while Mommy does things at the hospital. And tonight I'm going to a church play that my cousins are in. So I'll have to find a little time somewhere to have to myself to do some homework. I got a few-days extension on my [livejournal.com profile] inrevelations story, which is both good and bad, because I haven't had time to go through and edit or type it up, but with this English paper I have to write, I might put it off until the last minute, which is never good. Hopefully I'll have enough time.
pretty_cynical: (OFFICE. halpert house.)
Things I've done over the past few days:
  • CLEANED. Grandma (Dad's mom) arrived here last night, so in preparation for her visit I cleaned various parts of the house. She's staying in my room, and I've been so busy that I rarely do anything in there besides sleep, read and do homework in there, so it hasn't gotten very messy - it took me literally ten minutes to clean. I left a few things until the last minute, and I got home late and was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get them done before Grandma got here. Luckily, Mommy was home all day, and she finished straightening up my room. So Grandma's here, I'm sleeping in Monica's room, and week that she's here is going to be fun.

  • Listened to The Decemberists' new album The Hazards of Love. I've only listened to it once in full, but my impression so far is that it's better listened to as a whole album rather than as individual songs. It's pretty interesting, but I think I prefer their earlier stuff from Picaresque and The Crane Wife; I'm gonna go as far to say that The Hazards of Love is to The Decemberists as Narrow Stairs is to Death Cab For Cutie. I think I'd be able to offer a more cohesive review once I've listened to it a few more times. So I'll do that.

  • Read new spoilers for The Office, declared that season 5 pretty much sucks, and lost all hope that I'd be getting a Jim&Pam wedding. I HAD TO WAIT A WHOLE SEASON TO GET A FRAKKING PROPOSAL, NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE OTHER SEASON TO SEE A WEDDING, WHICH I COULD HAVE SEEN THIS SEASON HAD THE WRITERS NOT DICKED AROUND WITH ANDY/DWIGHT/ANGELA FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE SEASON AND KEPT PAM IN NEW YORK. NOT FAIR.

  • Hardly any homework. It was wonderful to just lounge around, sleep, and watch The West Wing season 2 without any major worries that I had more important things to do, especially after the weeks I'd been through.

  • Wrote my story for [livejournal.com profile] inrevelations. It's making me frustrated - I've got it planned out in my head, and when I put it down on paper, it doesn't sound as good. I'm reading other people's entries, and even though I shouldn't compare my stuff to theirs, mine seems much, much worse. I hope the person I wrote it for in enjoys it. And I'm worried that I won't reach/exceed the 800 word minimum. So I'll keep writing and self-editing, read others stories, and have mine ready by Friday. I hope it turns out as well as I think it will.

  • Got psyched about Obama's press conference tonight, though I'm pissed that it messes up my TV watching schedule.
pretty_cynical: (NEWYORK. miss montana.)
I'm pretty much cured of the sickness I had towards the end of spring break, whatever it was - although now I've developed a cough, much worse than previous ones. It seems to be decreasing, which is always a good sign, but it's gone on a lot longer than it should. I'm debating whether or not to bring it up with Mommy and see if I can get it checked out, but I'm pretty sure she'll just tell me to let it run it's course because it seems to be getting better. No one has mentioned anything during the 590633246 times I coughed over the past few days, especially those times I was coughing so hard I could barely talked, so I'm guessing I shouldn't really worry about it. I just hope I'm better soon, because I haven't been in the best mood lately.

I was hoping my Amazon order would be here earlier this afternoon, since I checked the website as often as I could to see where my stuff was at and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it arrived at the post office earlier this afternoon, when it wasn't expected until Monday. But it hadn't arrived at my house yet, which means that if it's in town, it'll be here tomorrow. At least, I hope so. If it doesn't get here until Monday I'm going to be pissed, because I'll spend the weekend thinking about that instead of all the school things I have to do this weekend.

Now if the Converses I ordered could get here in less than 11 days, I'd be golden.

-

I have not done any homework today, despite how eager I was yesterday to get working. I planned on doing my Anthropology exam today (just to get it out of the way) and typing up part of my English paper, but of course, none of that happened - I showered and listened to music all day while anxiously checking on the status of my Amazon order. So the revised plans now are to do the Anthropology exam and essays tomorrow and my English paper on Sunday and Monday morning, if I need it. I also have my Film review, but I'm going to save that for Monday/Tuesday and turn it in on Wednesday because a) I still have no idea what I'm going to do, thus the need for extra time, and b) I really don't want to watch the movie we'll be watching that day. I think I can still do well if I turn it in later - the professor hasn't penalized anyone for a late assignment yet, I probably won't be the only one turning it in late, and I have late coupons if absolutely necessary. So we'll see how it goes.
pretty_cynical: (AMERICANIDOL. since i fell for you.)
Yesterday was the real "last day" of my spring break :( Both Graham and Monica are around this weekend, so it's gone back to being super-stressful around here. I no longer can get the computer to myself for long periods of time, stay up until midnight and wake up at noon (like I did last night), or spend the days bumming around in my pajamas doing absolutely nothing. Plus, we "spring forward" an hour tonight, which is totally going to mess up my already-screwed up sleep schedule. Great.

I had to be actually productive yesterday, since I hadn't done anything school-related the entire week. I printed out a few sources for my research paper (which I've decided will be on realism in The West Wing - an absolutely ace topic, given it's been something on my mind lately since I re-watched the last two seasons and has actual sources for me to cite.) I didn't do the research proposal yet, but it won't take as long now that I've got a topic in mind, so I'm planning on doing that during my break on Monday. I'll annotate the sources sometime this weekend, along with reading those stupid, unrelated-to-the-class essays and writing summaries and answering questions about them. But I did watch The War Room and Annie Hall last night for my Film review, both of which were incredibly good. I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time picking a film to write a journalistic review on.

The Office was pretty meh this week, but American Idol was surprisingly good. )

I'm still sick, by the way. And I think it's getting worse, which is absolutely great when I have to go back to school. Really.
pretty_cynical: (WESTWING. kate the great.)
I think I'm losing my voice. Or at least I've got an abudance of mucus in my chest that I keep coughing up, which makes it a huge effort to actually talk. I'm thinking this is a direct result of my louder-than-necessary running commentary while completing my The West Wing re-watch late at night by myself. Fortunately, I finished watching the series late last night (tears and flailing included), so I can try and heal before going back to school on Monday. Not that I'll actually need my voice, since I hardly ever talk in class or on campus, but the weather's getting nicer and it's not the time to come down with a cold.

Now that I've finished watching The West Wing, it's about time I got started on some homework. I've got the computer to myself tomorrow, even though Graham doesn't have school (he's going to be at a college thing all day) so I think I'll use that time to type up my English research propsal (even though I have no idea what I'm going to do it on yet) and get a source to annotate. The rest of my homework doesn't require the computer, so I can do that this weekend when everyone else is around. As for the movie I need to watch for Film, Bobby was checked out from the library, but I got Moulin Rouge, Annie Hall and Atonement off the internets for my iPod. All three are movies that I've either never seen or haven't seen in a really long time, and I think they'll be good to write reviews on. I think I'm going to watch all three before I decide which one I want to to review.

Also: I finally got around to watching Law & Order: UK! Um, YES. This show definitely satisfies my love of all things British and how desperate I am to go back to London. And the actors are incredible as well. A total must-watch, in my opinion.

Speaking of opinions, let's talk about American Idol. )

There's a new episode of The Office tonight! FINALLY.
pretty_cynical: (MISC. read less; more tv.)
At the library right now. I haven't actually stayed here longer than a few minutes - I came in briefly a few weeks ago to pick up The Thumpin'. I really don't like using the computers here (the one at home or the ones at school are a heck of a lot better), but I'm making do. I picked up Anderson Cooper's book Dispatches From the Edge (thus continuing my streak of reading political non-fiction/memoirs) and the sixth season of The West Wing on DVD. Season 7 was already checked out, and I'm nearly done with the 6th (only about 5 eps left, plus I watched the finale this morning when it was on Bravo), but I can watch them on TV instead of the computer, in time to spend spring break marathoning it. That is, if I don't have tons of homework to do then. I've got two weeks to figure something out.

a few television related thoughts - House has sort of redeemed itself! American Idol continues to be lame! a fave character returns to 24! Lost! Plus, I think I could be a better scheduler that the NBC guys. )

It's Conan O'Brien's last show tonight :(((( I'm buying this and this to remember it by.
pretty_cynical: (WESTWING. white house barbie.)
My English class can seriously go DIAF. Like, we haven't really done anything for the first few weeks (or discussed things that I already knew, given that I went to high school and took four years of English), and then this week, BAM! Research proposal due today, rough draft due next Wednesday, final draft due a week after that. On what, you ask? WHATEVER THE FRAK WE WANT. Which, in someways may seem like a good thing, but when you have to do a research assignment that requires numerous (and varied) sources, it sucks. I planned on doing something television related, but I can't think of anything substantial. I couldn't even come up with a decent sounding research proposal, so I didn't even do it and skipped class. I'm just upset that the professor doesn't even give us any guidance as to where to go with the paper. Seriously, how I am I going to learn how to write a good research paper if the professor doesn't teach me?

And I still have to do my Film paper on Mystic River this weekend. Great.

-

I have lots of TV to catch up on - I chose watching American Idol/taking a shower over Criminal Minds, CSI:NY wasn't really worth it (despite reading a spoiler earlier yesterday afternoon saying there would be something major) and 24 hasn't gotten any better. I still have last weeks House and yesterdays Lost to watch as well. This whole "basic cable with no DVR and being forced to watch most stuff online" really sucks. I wish I had my laptop so I could watch these things in bed.

However, I am working on marathoning season 6 of The West Wing - I watched the first two episodes on TV and the rest (six so far) online, usually one a day, more if I have the time. Although I'm about 3 episodes behind Bravo, so I'm trying to catch up as best I can so I can watch episodes on TV on Fridays since I'm home. I've forgotten how much joy this show brought me, even if it does suck at times.

-

I think I'm going to have to miss The Office and 30 Rock tonight, as much as I don't want to. I'm going to Grand Valley tomorrow morning for a transfer orientation and since it takes three hours to get from my house to there, I have to get up way earlier than usual, so I have to go to bed earlier. Also, it is Mommy's birthday today (the big 5-0!), so we might be doing stuff for that as well. At least I can watch them online, and it'll give my something to look forward to when I get home.

-

The weather yesterday was my favorite kind: rainy and spring-like. Now it's cold again and I miss it.

pretty_cynical: (OFFICE. soul mates.)
I somehow lucked out of getting any homework this weekend. AGAIN. I don't understand it at all.

Quick thoughts on The Office. Plus, Grey's Anatomy! )

I'm working on finishing up season 2 of Mad Men - I have the last three episodes yet to watch, which I'm converting now. And I still have the new Lost yet to watch.
pretty_cynical: (TWENTYFOUR. the boss.)
Turns out we get to keep our deluxe cable package until the weekend; after that, we're switching over to WOW Basic Cable. We'll eventually get HD and DVR service from them, once we get back on track. I'm sad to leave Comcast behind. For all it's problems, it did have some pretty nice features. We also gave back our leased Flex today. I'm going to miss its high tech navigation system (which I so fondly named Julie) and it's Japanese-sounding beeps. But now we have a Honda and a Toyota, which are adorably named Ernie and Bert.

Hi, my name is Maureen and I don't adapt well to change.

Thoughts on House, 24 and American Idol. )

There are some recent spoilers for The Office that I'd really like to discuss, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow when I have thoughts on tonight's episode as well. And I have yesterday's episode of Lost yet to watch and talk about, so that'll come sometime tomorrow as well.
pretty_cynical: (OFFICE. i missed you.)
So the Cardinals didn't win last night, failing to make the Superbowl a real Cinderella story like I (and Mommy and a whole bunch of other people) thought it would be. Instead, Pittsburgh won, making this the second straight Superbowl where I came out disappointed. Congrats to to the Steelers and all, but they've now won six Superbowls - the most recent one three years ago. Most of the players on this team played in that game and already have a ring - they really don't need another one. I mean, THE CARDINALS HAVE NEVER WON A SUPERBOWL. Who I am supposed to see about that? Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and the rest of the team played their absolute best, and they should have been rewarded for it.

(Seriously, I knew things weren't going well towards the end when they played "Boogie Shoes" and Pittsburgh had a slight lead. I secretly hoped that it was a good sign that the Cardinals might just pull this thing off, but that was not the case. MAJOR LOSE.)

But the post-Superbowl episode of The Office certainly cheered me up! )
pretty_cynical: (MISC. through the dark.)
I haven't really been in the mood to post lately - this has really got me down, and as a result of it, we're getting basic cable after the Superbowl. So this means no more DVR, HD or OnDemand. Thankfully, almost everything I watch can be viewed online, so I really shouldn't be worrying this much. It's just that we have a big screen TV and it's kind of pointless to have one without the HD. I'm kinda hoping that once things get back on track we'll be able to use it again. I've become so accustomed to being able to watch things in HD that it'll be weird to watch things in standard definition. Especially when there are some big things coming up.

The Superbowl is tomorrow, although I'm not as excited as a used to be. I found out a few days ago that Obama is a Steelers fan, which really pissed me off (FINALLY something to not like about him), but that's understandable. They're one of the best teams in the league; they wouldn't have gotten to the Superbowl if they weren't. But honestly, I think everyone's sick of Pittsburgh at this point. They've already won a bunch of Superbowls, the most recent in 2006. It's about time someone else wins. It'll be a great story if the Cardinals win, since they haven't won in nearly 60 years. It'll give us some hope that if the underdog can overcome the odds, then we can get through anything. And we've all been needing some hope these days.

I have my first Anthro exam on Wednesday, which I'm really nervous about. We're allowed to bring a "cheat sheet" with us to the test, but I only have a vague idea of what it covers, so I don't know exactly what I should put on it. I have a take home essay to do as well, but I haven't even really looked at it yet. I want to be super-prepared for this exam so I can do well on it, since I didn't turn in my first assignment and now have one of the lowest (if not the lowest) grade in the class. But given my recent mood, I'm not motivated to much of anything. So I'm hoping I feel better soon! Steve Martin hosting Saturday Night Live, NBC's six hours of pre-Superbowl coverage, and that post-Superbowl episode of The Office are sure to cheer me up.
pretty_cynical: (MISC. no one does it like you.)
My second "free Friday" of the semester, and once again I didn't have it to myself. Today is "Records Day" for the public schools (I think it has something to do with the fact that the high schools are done with first semester finals), so Monica is home with me. That's fine; we get along great and are able to split computer time evenly. I'm just worried because next Friday is the last Friday I'll have to myself, since Graham has every off starting in February. And you all know how things go with me, Graham and the computer. But he can drive now, so maybe he'll be out of the house more, working and stuff.

Whatever. Today I'm doing laundry and debating whether or not to watch The American President.

I took a nap last night around 6:30 - and I woke up three hours later realizing I had totally missed The Office when it originally aired. Thank God I had the series recording setup on the DVR. But seriously, I could have skipped it and be no worse off, it was that bad. Is it just me, or have a lot of episodes been filler? It certainly feels that way. Although I am pretty excited for next Sunday, since that's the big post-Superbowl episode. There's bound to some exciting stuff then, right? I hope so.

Another reason why this semester > last semester: I literally have no homework this weekend. All I have to do is reprint my Film paper because I forgot to italicize the movie titles. That's it. I don't know how it happened, but I definitely like it. More free time for me!
pretty_cynical: (MISC. coops!)
  1. I ate way too much at the inauguration party on Tuesday. In addition to the popcorn and sub sammich provided to me, I had a chocolate chip cookie and two whole packages of peach rings. This caused me to be super-hyper the rest of the day, so much so that I could barely work on the paper I had to write for Intro to Film. But by the time the balls rolled around on Tuesday night, I was definitely ready to go to sleep, and I was so tired that I almost fell asleep in Film Wednesday morning. I still haven't caught up on sleep; thank God it's the weekend!

  2. Speaking of the balls, the Obamas were absolutely adorable. I loved how genuine their love for each other came across as they were dancing - and that it didn't wear them down with each ball they went to. I didn't really like Michelle's dress; I thought she could do a lot better (although like Kelly Kapoor, she looks really good in white.) However, Jill Biden was A++ in that red dress! And she and Joe were looking adorable dancing together as well. Basically the entire night was wonderful and flail-inducing. I'm really excited about having them as our First and Second families, yo.

  3. I'm seriously considering printing out this photo on nice photo paper and framing it. SERIOUSLY.

  4. My Film professor admitted yesterday that on occasion she likes to watch movies with the commentary. I could definitely relate. True Story: I only watch "The Dundies" with commentary. I've only watched it without the commentary once, and that was when I watched with my cousins. I like all the on-the-set stories the cast&crew tell about filming an entire episode at Chili's.

  5. I thought about my high school during and after the inauguration - we drove by on our way to college that morning, since there only about two miles away from each other. I'm wondering if they got to watch it. My school was all girls and catholic and really conservative, so I don't even know how they reacted to Obama being elected. I remember having Bush's second inauguration on TV in 2005, but we didn't really watch it, just had it as background noise while we were in class. But I think Obama's inauguration is definitely more history-making, so I would assume they did. I'm pretty sure my Government teacher would've made his class watch it the entire hour and half they have class - he's really big into that kind of stuff.

  6. I was really disappointed to read some spoilers for upcoming Jim/Pam moments on The Office that were so blantantly put out there. However, I am excited there is a new episode tonight, and I'm assuming there's going to be some good Jim/Pam stuff, since the Dwight/Andy/Angela storyline is now (thankfully) dead. I am really glad my OTP is coming back to the forefront in these upcoming episodes.

  7. I'm upset that Criminal Minds is repeats for the next two weeks. I want Emily Prentiss' big secret revealed soon so I can find out if my hunch is correct - I almost thought they were going to reveal it in last night's ep, since my theory totally fit in with the case. CSI:NY and Numb3rs have repeats in the next few weeks as well. WTF, CBS?

  8. I haven't watched Lost yet (although I did read a few flist reactions - "CRAZY!" is basically the concensus), but ABC is re-airing it on Saturday night, so I think I'll watch it then. It currently conflicts with Criminal Minds, so I haven't decided how I'm going to watch future episodes yet. I don't know.
pretty_cynical: (ACT. literary boy.)
I woke up this morning around 9 hoping to have the entire day to myself (I don't have classes on fridays this semester again) - staying in my pajamas, making pancakes, watching Sports Night, reading The Audacity of Hope. This hope was shattered fifteen minutes later when Monica came down the stairs; turns out she and Graham didn't have school today because it was too cold.

So instead, I ended up taking a shower, napping for 3 hours, and trying to justify why Graham spent nearly six hours (seriously) on the computer when Monica and I both wanted to use it. This is the exact reason why Mommy&Dad won't give him his computer back. However, if he did have his own computer, these types of problems wouldn't exist. (Relatedly, now that Circuit City is going out of business, I'm hoping to find a really good deal on a laptop so my parents won't have to wait until fall to buy one. Since I'll need it for school and all.)

If you really want to know how I felt about this week's episode of The Office, you can read [livejournal.com profile] shornt's thoughts here; I basically agreed with everything she said. I am, however, very excited about upcoming episodes because there's some Jim/Pam stuff that they've definitely been lacking this season. I'm really happy to see them come to the forefront again.

I signed up for the challenge at [livejournal.com profile] inrevelations purely to see if I can write something that's good. I'm hoping it goes better than my picfor1000 story, which by the way, hasn't even been started yet. I'm definitely more excited about it, which is a start.

100 questions meme, stolen from a few friends on Facebook. )

Downloaded more music from Death Cab For Cutie, and there's a new Numb3rs on tonight. Those two events are unrelated but worth mentioning. I'M GOING INSANE FROM MARATHONING SPORTS NIGHT EARLIER, CAN YOU TELL?

Sports Night DVDs finally arrived today (!!!), so a marathon is imminent. ALSO: BLOOPER REEL.
pretty_cynical: (ACT. heartbreaker.)
Year end things:
- over and over and over, a mix of songs I had on repeat throughout 2008
- top five events in sports & politics, my super lame entry for [livejournal.com profile] picspammy
- 2008 in review meme. )

Tonight's plans include eating excellent shrimp and Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Since my Internet connection shuts off at 10 PM, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Oh, and I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 again because I'm insane I'd like to get back into writing things, and this is my assignment. I'm literally weeping right now. How do I make a good story out of that?
