HAPPY OFFICE PREMIERE DAY!!!

I can't believe it's FINALLY here after all that fear and excitement. Only 8 more hours!
  1. Walked out of Stats 20 minutes early because was getting bored and I just couldn't take it anymore. And then I nearly fell asleep in Government. I considered skipping class today but decided not to because I didn't want to miss today's quiz.
  2. Yesterday in English, we did this group project to work on forming different arguments for our Sicko-related paper. I thoroughly enjoyed my group; they were talkative (in a good way) and really open about things. And they were all 2008 High School graduates, which is such a rarity on this campus. So we had fun with it, and now I'm really confident about the paper I have to write on Monday.
  3. The Obama meeting last night was enjoyable as well. I was the youngest one there, and everyone was suprised at how politically aware I am. What's nice about the group is that it's really well organized and you don't have to make a serious commitment. There are meetings/phonebanks/canvassings every week, but I'm only going to attend a few because of my busy schedule. I'm participating in a phonebank next Wednesday, and I'm kinda nervous because I don't like talking on the phone and I'm not persuasive. But there's a training session before we start calling people, so I hope that diminishes my fears and all goes well.
  4. Both Criminal Minds and CSI:NY lacked awesomeness.
  5. I'm going to be super busy this weekend: finish up my picspammy project, do tons of Statistics problems, work on my Speech, and study for my first Astronomy exam that's next Wednesday. I hope it goes better than my Stats one.

There are three reasons Fall is my favorite season: the start of school; the weather gets cooler, but is still bearable; and the start of a new season of television. )

-

It's currently raining pretty hard here, which is perfect "stay inside and work on homework" weather. If only I was actually motivated to do it (and I somehow need to get motivated, because I have a lot to do and need to get it done ASAP so I'm not rushing to finish it later.) And Michael Phelps is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, so there's that.

BEES!

Oh, Pushing Daisies. WHY ARE YOU SO AWESOME?

It's a shame that I have a super busy college schedule and a packed TV lineup this fall (SERIOUSLY); otherwise, I would totally be watching/slash obsessing over this show. WHY, CBS, MUST YOU HAVE A HOLD ON ME WITH YOUR WEDNESDAY NIGHT TV LINEUP FULL OF CRIME?

I've been back from New York since Friday morning, but am just now getting around to posting.

New York was exhausting and exciting. We only spent three days there, but they were so jam-packed that there wasn't a lot of time to sleep, and when it was time to sleep, I couldn't. But I had fun, and got to see TONS of stuff.

My favorite sight was Times Square/Broadway; I tried to take a New Amsterdam-esque picture, and this was my best attempt. We saw Xanadu on Broadway - it was a little too raunchy for me, but still very good. Tony Roberts, the actor who played Danny/Zeus, looked really familiar, although I don't remember seeing anything he's been in. Went to the Statue of Liberty; was nearly attacked by Asian tourists, and made a very special walking trip from 5th Avenue to Rockefeller Center, just so I could visit the NBC store. Bought a Fun Run shirt (to wear when I work out, so I can look like more of a dork), and a Kenneth the Page shirt. I even was pointed out to famous spots from TV/movies: the fountain from Enchanted, Law & Order production offices, 30 Rock, the Statue of Liberty (from the season premiere of CSI:NY), and exteriors from Friends, and Times Square (from the New Amsterdam pilot)!

All in all, I had a good time. And Mac Taylor (my iPod, not the character) was a HUGE help on the trip - he was equipped with episodes of CSI:NY and New Amsterdam to keep me occupied, and the combination of solitaire and hours of music were a great way to combat the boredom that is NYC traffic. Although next trip (whenever that may be), I definitely want to see Aaron Sorkin's Broadway play and visit NBC studios. Standing outside was just not enough.

-

I'm going to wait until tomorrow to talk about New Amsterdam - just so I can talk about two episodes in one entry. I will say that this week's episode was most definitely worth waiting nearly a week to see it, and then it's great only having to wait three days instead of the usual week. I can't believe there are only 3 episodes left; I desperately want/NEED a second season of this show. It's, like, the perfect show for me. I NEED THIS ICONED, DAMMIT.

-

BEST PRISON BREAK NEWS EVER. Although I'm going to have to play catch up with the show; I haven't watched it since.

-

I now have to do all of the homework that I put off because it was Spring Break and I was lazy. Plus, once I go back, I've only got a month left of high school. I AM SO NOT GOING TO MAKE IT.

new york!

GUYS. I LEAVE FOR NEW YORK IN A FEW HOURS. MY EXCITEMENT CAN NOT BE CONTAINED.

OH, AND I FINALLY GOT MY IPOD. It's black and oh so tiny. I named it Mac Taylor!

And I still have to pack.

(This post is brought to you by John Amsterdam, who would like to remind you that HE ALMOST DIED ON THE SUBWAY PLATFORM IN NEW YORK. Which is probably why we're not allowed to take it.)

A meme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] pieces_of. (Happy Birthday!)

Hand write:

1) Your handle/name/username.
2) Left or right handed?
3) Favorite letters to write.
4) Least favorite characters to write.
5) Write "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
6) Tag 5 people.

On a related note, I only write in black pen, and the pen has to a have a cap or one of those click things. Blue just seems very odd to me, and there have been too many times where uncapped pens have ruined my pencil bags. And I'm always on the lookout for left-handed famous people (or basically anyone who is left-handed, because they're so rare). Recent discoveries: Rashida Jones, Barack Obama, and my school's principal. If you know of any others, please let me know!

-

I have a Peyton episode of CSI:NY waiting for me on the DVR, and Amy Adams is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight. YAY.
pretty_cynical: (future fear.)
I woke up this morning to find the following outside:

SNOW! A whole 5 inches, I think? I really don't know; I've only gone outside once today, and that was to go to church. However, the streets are clear now, but my exams for tomorrow have been moved back an hour from 8 AM until 9 AM. Although I really would like more sleeping in time, I really just want to get my exams over with. Speaking of...

I should totally be studying for Genetics and Pre-Calc right now, but instead of spending time looking it over, I've been reading (I finished The Virgin Suicides today), watching random episodes of The Office, sleeping, listening to music, and watching a few episodes of CSI:NY off iTunes (I miss Peyton. A LOT.) I know I should be studying, because these first two days of finals are the hardest, but I'd rather be doing other things.
pretty_cynical: (you don't wear my chains.)
Why have my favorite Prison Break and CSI:NY characters left their respective shows? WHY?

In which I rant a little. )

-

Also, CBS was showing a TON of CSI promos last night, and they made me throw up in my mouth a little bit every time I saw them. [livejournal.com profile] andrea_ms would probably know why. (Hint: it has something to do with Grissom and Sara.)

FRIDAY!

I've had a totally stressful week, and am going to have an even more stressful weekend, so tonight, I'm going to get all caught up on this week's TV (NCIS, Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, Life, and of course, Numb3rs) and do everything else tomorrow. Gah.

-

I really need to know where Peyton is like, right now. The fact that they're very mum on her apperance is driving me crazy.
pretty_cynical: (ny ; suppose we never fell in love.)
Today Monica and I discussed whether or not Big Macs have cheese on them. Monica tried to sing the Big Mac song to prove that they did, except I didn't believe her, so we had to ask Graham, who confirmed that yes, Big Macs have cheese.

(This only came up because we watched CSI:NY today, and not because we were bored. I SWEAR. Also, I realized that I don't have a Mac/Peyton icon. That needs to be rectified.)
pretty_cynical: (ny ; i'm broken in two.)
Pre-Calc today wasn't very hard, only because we really didn't do anything, other than go over the packet. I got a lot of it wrong, as expected, but we're doing some Algebra review for the first week or so to catch up. Which is very, very good.

And my 21st Century Life teacher looks exactly like Lindsay Monroe from CSI:NY. *is amused*

-

I found the drabble-o-matic via the flist, used it, and got the following results:

Amita checked her watch. "Sure. But I've got to go meet the Black Bones for coffee now to, you know, say thanks for saving my life. Stay smooth, baby." She left and the door banged behind her.

Charlie choked back a sob and started folding another dog. Then he went out and got drunk instead.

SO. MUCH. AMUSEMENT.

-

Saw previews for CSI, CSI:NY and Criminal Minds while watching CBS last night. While I'm excited for all three (especially CSI:NY), I'm a bit distressed that I haven't seen a Numb3rs or Without a Trace preview yet. Both of those shows ended in cliffhangers, and I'm anxious to know what happens in the upcoming season without spoiling myself too much. (Plus, I think Numb3rs premieres a week earlier than the others, so wouldn't make sense to show previews now?)

I really, really need to play catch-up with Criminal Minds. I think I only have two or three episodes that I need to watch, but still. I at least need to watch both parts of the finale before the end of September.

-

The Private Practice "pilot" isn't going to be shown on ABC this week (at least I don't think it is; the TV Guide may not have the info correct, and I don't know about next week), so I'm in the process of downloading it. I'd prefer to watch it on TV (it looks better, it's easier to skip over the non-Addison stuff), but as long as I can watch it, I don't really care.
pretty_cynical: (Default)
GIP & GLP ([livejournal.com profile] pretty_cynical), because this song is owning me at the moment, and Claire Forlani is my new obsession. So.
pretty_cynical: (ny ; such a beautiful disaster.)
So guess what randomly showed up on TV Guide while I was checking the listings a few weeks ago? The Nine. Random, I know. Apparently ABC is airing the last six episodes or so starting tonight. I plan to watch it, but I'm going to be totally confused as to what's going on. It's been on hiatus for so long. Also, pre-24 crazy Kimby! I really don't think I can handle it.

I'll be watching CSI:NY tonight, because it's a Peyton episode(!), and Peyton trumps Kimby at this point. Sorry, Kimby. Your craziness freaked me out.

pretty_cynical: (c; undiscovered)
I'm insanely bored out of my mind. And you?

-

How did I miss out on a whole season of Psych? I watched it on Friday, because I saw the preview with Dule singing (!) and now I'm hooked. I swear, watching Psych is just another step in my plan to see former The West Wing cast members in something other than The West Wing. (Got some of the cast during Studio 60. Seriously!) Anywayz, Psych is a hilarious show, and I'll keep watching, just for Dule.

-

I'm kinda falling back in love with CSI: NY, but only seasons one and three. Peyton & Aiden = ♥. Also, Gary Sinise!

-

My birthday's in two days! :) Looking forward to presents from the flist. (If you want to get me a present that would totally make my life, you can buy me paid account. I'd like that a lot.)

pretty_cynical: (m; miss independent)
I brought the CSI:NY S3 premiere ("People With Money", it's called) off iTunes, because a) I desperately want to see it and CBS won't be showing it anytime soon, and b) it's Peyton's first episode. It's in the process of downloading right now. I can't wait to watch it.

While I'm doing that, I'm also making a ton of CDs. I broke my little mp3 player a few weeks ago, and I don't have any other way to listen to music other than my CD player. I'm going to Omaha next week and want to take my music to listen to on the 12-hour drive. Unfortunately, I've got over 200 songs that I actually like to listen to, and that results in A LOT of CDs. Oh, how I wish I had an iPod. Or a working mp3 player that can hold my entire music library. I'd like the iPod more. ;)

pretty_cynical: (miss independent)
I rarely watch CSI:NY anymore, but I did watch the season finale, and it was so very excellent. I can not wait for next season.

However, I didn't watch the Criminal Minds season finale. It turned out that the episode was a conclusion to a two-parter to an episode earlier in the season, and I never saw it. So. Plus, the last few episodes have freaked me out. I don't like that. I'll just pick it up next season, I guess.

My week of Really Important Season Finales starts tonight. I'm so excited.

i'm tired.

Grey's really pissed me off last night, although I was really glad to see Denny. I loves him.

This week was so stressful school wise, and I'm so glad it's over. Have a minimal amount of work to do this weekend; the only thing that could pose a problem is my The Good Earth reading. I'm supposed to have the book read by next Friday, but I've only gotten to chapter 7 in the actual book, and spent a good portion of Writing Styles reading the CliffsNotes for chapters 7-23. Will finish the book from 24 until 34 (the end). I have a test on it sometime soon. Studying will be necessary.

Also need to get my [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 fic done this weekend so I can get it typed up and posted before the deadline. It's due Wednesday, and I have exactly 300 words to write. Um. Am thinking of signing up for [livejournal.com profile] 100_women next. Seems like a semi easy fic project, and the prompts are pretty easy. I just need the fandoms/characters.

Now to go home and watch last night's CSI and maybe this week's CSI:NY. I've kinda fallen in love with that show. Again.

pretty_cynical: (Default)
Before I get to the fandom stuff, I'd like to say that I have FINALLY gotten the books, article and internet site I need for my research paper, so they will be looked over tonight for information and the paper-writing will hopefully start tomorrow. If all goes well, the paper should be done by Monday at the latest *crosses fingers*.

I also spent part of yesterday afternoon writing more of my [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 fic, and am in the process of typing it up to see how much more I need to write.
-

I have to give a big WTFseriously? to the people at American Idol. Um, to put Antonellla in the Top 24 was pretty stupid, but then to put Sundance instead of Tommy (who was a much better singer anyway) in there? That's low. Anyways, am excited for the majority of the contestants picked, and am even more excited about the guys chosen. I have a feeling that a guy's going to win this season. Will wait and see.

-

House made me feel akward again this week, and it was just the scene near the end with Chase&Cameron that got me irked. I think that the fact that they're engaged in real life (but not on the show), takes away from any scene where it's just the two of them. Loved the case as well - made me feel like I was watching Heroes, with the insensitivity to pain and the jumping off the balcony and whatnot.

-

I'm feeling a bit "meh" about this season of 24. The premiere was phenomonal (as usual), but now that we're nearly halfway through the season, it's getting a bit boring. I did love this weeks' episodes, and was extremely glad that it was a 2-hour palooza instead of one. LOVED Morris&Chloe, and of course the very end with Milo driving the van badly. I have a theory that technical analysts shouldn't drive vans (see Chloe, episode 5X02). And is Tom trying to pull a season 2 with removing the president? I was confused on that. Will have to wait until next week to see.

-

Studio 60 kinda freaked me out this week. I loved the flashback episodes that were done on West Wing (see In The Shadow of Two Gunmen Parts 1&2), but this one I hated. I can't really explain why. I am, however, excited for Monday, seeing as the preview was hilarious.

-

And finally, PEYTON! I missed her.
