YES WE DID.

GUYS. I literally have no words. When Brian Williams announced at 11 PM last night that Obama had won and would become not only our 44th President but our first African-American president, I was in shock. I could say anything beyond "Oh my God" over and over and over. It hasn't really even sunk in that he's President now. And what makes it even more special to me is that I was a part of it. Granted, I didn't do anything major, just a few phonebanks, but I did what I could. I was a part of this huge "youth movement" that became more politically aware and because of that, 66% of us helped elect our new president. It truly is an historic election; I can't wait to tell my children and grandchildren that on a Tuesday in November so many years ago, I helped change American history and watched with incredible excitement as we elected our first African-American president who has inspired so many of us and helped us change the country. It's wonderful and amazing and inspiring. IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING, BUT A CHANGE HAS COME.

I accidentally skipped Stats this morning. I was really engaged in reading my flist's epic reactions to last night that by the time I looked at clock in the lab it was already 10:30, and I decided that there's no point in attending the class for a half hour. Even though I promised myself that I'd pay attention more, I think I'm allowed a break every once in a while, since a) I have to put up with those idiots four days a week, and b) I was still processing what happened last night. I don't think I missed anything major anyway.

Reactions are starting to trickle in from my Facebook friends, not all of them positive. A lot of them followed in line with Catholic views and voted for McCain. And now that Obama will be the 44th president, they're not too happy about it. One of them is even considering moving to Australia. I don't want to sound bitchy or anything, but did they really think that McCain was going to win? If they watched any of the coverage last night (highly unlikely), they would've seen that there was no possible way of getting McCain as president. They should all take Obama's call to unite and help to get us out of this crisis that we've gotten ourselves into these past 8 years. And if they don't want to do that, they can leave. They won't be missed. HAVE FUN IN A COUNTRY THAT'S NOT AS COOL AS AMERICA, NERDS.

The leader of the Obama team that I worked on sent the entire team an email this morning thanking them for all our help and support over these past few months and our hard work got Obama elected. She sent along election results for the cities we covered, and guess what? 82% OF MY CITY VOTED. THAT IS EPIC.

THIS ELECTION WAS ALL FOR YOU, TIM :)
