I've only been out of school for a week and a half, but it definitely seems like longer. I haven't really done anything major while on break: I make French toast, bum around on the internet, post reactions to the ridiculous things that occur on MSNBC via Twitter, watch Gibbs' daily White House press briefings, get entertained by other TV happenings in primetime, stay up until 2 AM and sleep until 10 the next morning. Rinse and repeat. It's this kind of behavior that makes me desperate to have a job so I'm actually doing something all day instead of being productive; I've applied to a bunch of places, and am now getting through the tail end of the customary week-long waiting period, since no one has attempted to contact me. I just need to go out and do something, before I bore myself to death.

I was going to do reactions for each show after they aired, but I like doing them in one big post, because most of the time I don't have lots of elaborate thoughts on them. Plus, last weeks' episodes were all semi-related in that they were all really sweet. (Note: this doesn't include my reaction to the House season finale; it merited its own post here because it turned out that I had more than a paragraph's worth of thoughts after watching it. So.)
  • CSI:NY: All I have to say is that BABY GIRL MESSER IS ADORABLE. And I much prefer the name "Lucy" over "Lydia"; I have a little cousin named Lucy who's six - she's so sweet and adorable (but also pretty tough) and she's a total daddy's girl, despite the fact that she has two older sisters. I can imagine Danny spoiling her in the same way. Found it cute that they made Mac the godfather, even if Flack is Danny's best friend - I'm sure he'll be just as involved in her life as Mac is.

  • Scrubs: Yes, I watched the series finale! Even though I hadn't watched in months! Because I wanted to see if they gave the show a proper send off (The season on ABC was Scrubs last FOR REALSIES), and lo and behold, they did. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT AND SWEET AND HEARTBREAKING ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I'm just going to link to [livejournal.com profile] silverstars' picspam here, because THAT'S HOW I FEEL. (Although I do have one lingering thought - is JD&Elliot's baby a boy or a girl? I know it has JD's hair, but I can't tell from its gender-neutral outfit. I was secretly hoping they'd have a girl, as I came up with my ideal ending when I watched this season regularly - JD&Elliot would end up getting married and have a daughter named Avery Elliot. IF THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, I WOULD BE SO THRILLED.)

  • The Office: This episode was just what the show needed. It was light and cheesy and fun, which totally distracted from the fact that it felt like a filler, aside from the GREAT Jim/Pam stuff we got. Really it was GREAT. I think we all knew that "taking a secret trip" was code for "eloping", but I don't blame them for wanting to do it. I wouldn't even be surprised if they actually were secretly married beforehand, given the way their relationship had been tossed aside in recent episodes. It just proves that they really and truly are committed to each other - I mean, Jim decided he wanted to marry her that morning, when Pam had just woken up and didn't even look cute yet! And I applaud their decision to have a formal wedding, made while dancing with the rest of their co-workers (which felt actually fun, like a throwback to the older seasons). They're such a big part of The Office (both the show and the building itself) that not only should the entire office be there to witness it, but viewers should get to see it as well.

Oh, and I watched the White House Correspondents Dinner! Which just proves how much of a political dork I am, haha. But it was really enjoyable this time around (I haven't watched since Colbert was the entertainment in 2006), as I recognized a lot more celebrities as well as famous newspeople - I was all "!!!!!" every time they showed someone I knew, which was A LOT. And Obama's speech was absolutely fantastic - he was able to make light of himself and his staff without being too harsh, something I really admire in any person, not just a person of power. I really didn't like Wanda Sykes as the entertainment (I was personally gunning for Jon Stewart, or even Hugh Jackman, doing a medley of political songs with a well-choreographed dance routine), and after her bit was over I couldn't help but wonder if it's somebody's job at the WHCA to look over the entertainer's routine to make sure there isn't anything that could be construed as offensive, especially in Wanda Sykes' case. And then I got mad at MSNBC for bringing in two unknown correspondents who took the idea that the dinner is jokingly called "DC Prom" literally by wearing actual wrist corsages and taking each other as dates instead of getting one of their ACTUAL NBC CORRESPONDENTS on the phone and asking them what it's like at the dinner. Oh wells. There's always next year, I guess.

I feel like everyone but me has seen Star Trek already. Which is sad, because I'd really like to go see it, but no one will take/go with me. Same thing with Away We Go premiering in a few weeks. BLERG.
